Thanks to Jo over at Jo’s Book Blog for tagging me in this really interesting tag!
1) The best book you’ve read so far this year?
Well this is almost impossible to pick one so I’m not going to! It would be one of either Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, All The Good Things, or This Love.
2) Your favourite sequel this year?
I’m not sure if this counts as a sequel as it’s the third in a series but I loved Last Breath by Robert Bryndza. I also really enjoyed Persons Unknown by Susie Steiner.
3) A new release that you haven’t read yet but really want to?
Ohh plenty! Top of my list are The Power by Naomi Alderton and The Child by Fiona Barton.
4) Most anticipated release for the second half of the year?
I’m really looking forward to reading Did You See Melody? by Sophie Hannah, as I love Sophie Hannah’s books, and also In Deep Water by Sam Blake, but there are so many!
5) Your biggest disappointment?
I have to say You Don’t Know Me by Iran Mahmood; I thought I was going to love it but just couldn’t get on with it. I know a lot of other people loved it though, so there you go! Here’s my review.
6) Biggest surprise of the year?
Mad by Chloe Esposito – I didn’t expect this to be as funny as it was, it really made me laugh!
7) Favourite new to you or debut author?
Gail Honeyman – I loved Eleanor Oliphant… and I will definitely be reading any future books she releases!
8) Your new fiction crush?
Michael from The Summer of Impossible Things – he’s lovely! 😉
9) New favourite character
I know this book is coming up a lot, but Alvie from Mad is quite awful but so much fun to read about! She really doesn’t give a.f. and I found her very entertaining!
10) A book that made you cry?
Definitely This Love by Dani Atkins – very emotional!
11) A book that made you happy?
I have to say, with the amount of crime I read, I don’t always have a lot of ‘happy’ books to read. But I did think Standard Deviation was a great read, despite having its sad moments – it was subtly funny and the narrator, Graham, told the story in a great way.
12) Your favourite book to movie adaptation that you’ve seen this year?
I don’t think I’ve actually seen any book to film adaptations this year! Oh dear. However I did rewatch Gone Girl, which I thought was a fantastic film adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s novel. David Fincher did a fantastic job of directing this film and I loved it.
13) Favourite book post you’ve published this year?
This one is fun – but other favourites include my Goodreads Challenge 6 months in and the My Life In Books tag.
14) The most beautiful book you have bought/received this year?
My mum bought me a copy of Foxlowe and the gold detail on the cover is just beautiful! I haven’t read it yet but am looking forward to starting it!
15) What are some books that you need to read by the end of the year?
Sweet Little Lies by Caz Frear, The Art of Hiding by Amanda Prowse, Last Seen by Lucky Beck and Final Girls by Riley Sager – plus many, many more!
I’m tagging in: anyone else who fancies doing it – this way I’m not tagging in people that have already done it, but whoever does it, please let me know as I’d love to see your answers!
Since we so love the same books (My Love is one of my top reads too) I really have to check the other two! Very interesting to see your choices, great tag!
Ooh yes do! And good point; we could definitely share bookshelves I reckon – similar tastes!
Ahh, I love the cover of Foxlowe, it’s a book I wanna buy for the cover too hehe 😀
So pretty! I just need to actually get around to reading it haha!
I hope you enjoy it, I;ll look out for your review! 🙂
I just started the Detective Erika Foster series. They come highly recommended, so I’m really excited to get into the series. Later this month I’m hoping to read Eleanor Oliphant…
Ooh I wish I had the whole series to read for the first time again! ???? ahh enjoy when you do read Eleanor Oliphant, it’s great!
Great answers! I loved Eleanor Oliphant too 🙂
